By becoming a member of Coast Academy you agree to the following terms and conditions:
1. MEMBER SAFETY
Coast Academy reserves the right to conduct police background checks where necessary to ensure member safety. We are a family-friendly facility promoting Courage, Respect, Honesty and Loyalty. Membership may be declined or terminated for individuals with: Convictions (NZ or overseas) relating to violence, drug use or supply, or offences against minors. Current gang membership or known affiliations
2. MEMBERSHIP CANCELLATIONS & FEES
Coast Academy may terminate any membership if rules are breached or behaviour places others at risk.
Children’s Memberships
. Paid weekly but represent a full-term commitment. Places are reserved and cannot be reallocated once the term begins. Mid-term withdrawal requires payment of the remaining term balance. 4 weeks’ written notice required for cancellation. Payments pause during nominated Christmas closures. No refunds apply. Public holiday classes may be made up at another session/location (subject to availability).
Adult Memberships.
Run year-round (52-week pro-rata system). 4 weeks’ written notice required for cancellation
Suspensions:
Permitted only for: Injury (medical certificate with return date required), Travel (proof with return date required). A $50 administration fee applies. Memberships are non-transferable.
3. DIRECT DEBIT / INSUFFICIENT FUNDS
Fees are collected via direct debit through GoCardless. Members must ensure sufficient funds are available. Failed payments incur a $5 administration fee, added to the outstanding balance and processed via GymDesk.
4. UNIFORM REQUIREMENTS
Students must wear the official Coast Academy uniform in class. For competitions, students must: Wear a Coast Academy uniform, or have a Coast Academy patch affixed to their Gi.
5. GRADING & FEES
Children: $30. Adults: $50. Black belt: $100. Fees include a belt and certificate and are processed via GoCardless.
6. PHOTOGRAPHY
Members consent to photos and videos being taken and used for promotional purposes. If you do not wish your child to be photographed, please inform management.
7. PARENTAL CONSENT
Parents/guardians: Authorise instructors and senior belts to demonstrate and assist techniques on their child. Consent to the use of their child’s image for promotional purposes
8. LIABILITY WAIVER
This is a legally binding waiver. Participation in Jiu-Jitsu, MMA and Kickboxing involves inherent risks, including physical contact, joint locks, throws, chokes, strikes, and potential injury or serious harm. By participating, you: Voluntarily assume all risks. Release Coast Academy, its instructors, agents, and members from all liability (including negligence) for injury, loss, or damage. This waiver is binding on you and your heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns.
9. CHANGES TO TERMS
Coast Academy may update these Terms at any time. Continued membership constitutes acceptance unless you notify us in writing.
10. AGREEMENT
By checking / signing the box you are digitally agreeing to this release waiver.
